Join us for an intergenteraional workshop inspired by the exhibition Really Free: The Radical Art of Nellie Mae Rowe, led by teaching artists Rebecca Kelly and Y Lam ’25.

Nellie Mae Rowe’s dollmaking began as a child when she created dolls for the amusement of herself and her siblings. Using her dolls as inspiration, participants will make clothespin dolls reflecting their unique identity. We will use fabric scraps, found objects, sheep’s wool, string and bits of old jewelry to create small felt dolls for our and others’ amusement!

Rebecca Kelly is a multidisciplinary artist. She is a storyteller, textile and book artist, and curator. Her students’ Book Arts work was exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum’s Learning through Art Exhibition, and Rebecca curated the traveling exhibition of the award winning Bucks County Community College ARTMOBILE: transFORMations; Making Art with Recycled and Reused Materials. Rebecca is an experienced educator and holds a Master’s Degree in Child Development from Sarah Lawrence College.

Y Lam 

Y Lam ’24 is a Teacher Associate at Centennial School and a current graduate student in Lehigh’s College of Education. Her studies focused on art, psychology, and Asian studies. In her free time, Y loves reading, sketching, and trying to cook.
