Discover the joy of creating in this hands-on workshop, led by teaching artist Susan Morelcok and inspired by the interdisciplinary works on view in our exhibitions and collection. This session will focus on the unique and versatile practice of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) through the art of collage.
Participants will begin by exploring the museum’s exhibitions and collection, drawing inspiration from the displayed works and the practice of Field Notes—capturing the world around us through drawings, notes, and observations. Using a variety of provided collage materials, participants will craft their own creative response to the themes and ideas present in the art.
From their initial collages, participants will use a template to generate a set of Artist Trading Cards. These 2.5” x 3.5” mini artworks, the same size as standard playing cards, are perfect for trading, gifting, and sharing. Each participant will leave the workshop with a personal collection of ATCs, including pieces made by their fellow participants.
This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to explore your creativity, connect with others, and engage with art in a new and meaningful way. All materials will be provided—just bring your curiosity and imagination!
Space is limited to 20 participants. Please register in advance to help us plan for your visit and ensure we have enough materials for everyone!

The visual arts program of study at Charter Arts provides a well-rounded, structured, and classical fine art education. Approached as an academic as well as artistic discipline, the sequence of courses inspire students to form connections across the curriculum.
Students progressively build conceptual understanding as they work to advance skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital design concepts, photography, art history, and professional practices. Over the course of study within the visual arts program, students develop a portfolio expressive of their active studio participation, work ethic, personal inquiry, passion for art, and dedication to skill advancement.
The department hosts both student and professional artist exhibitions in its Corpora Gallery throughout the school year. Artistic Director, Lorie Reinhard shares: “By interacting with professional artists and their collections, our students have the opportunity to experience new perspectives on how to think about their own work. They see how an artist truly dives into their vision for their work and see it all come together.”

Join us in room 135 and listen as 2024-2025 Penn State Laureate Michele Dunleavy shows how her motto “yes and” helped shape her artistic journey and career with musical accompaniment by Eric Ian Farmer. Light refreshments will be served.
Join us for an engaging lecture and discussion centered on Seeds of Liberation, a thought-provoking installation currently on view at LUAG as part of the Art, Architecture and Design Faculty Exhibition. This collaborative work by Christina Chi Zhang, Dean Caivano, and Clare Fentress examines prison abolition through the lens of care, community, and collective action.
The installation unearths stories and symbols of liberation through three “seeds”: the history of Anna d’Angola and her land in Manhattan, moments of humanity within the walls of incarceration at the Central California Women’s Facility, and seed bombs that invite participants to imagine a future without prisons.
Together, the three seeds inspire reflection on the transformation of carceral landscapes and the possibilities of liberation through care and imagination. Through a combination of architectural models, interactive components, and poetic storytelling, Seeds of Liberation challenges visitors to consider how the logic of incarceration can be dismantled and replaced with systems rooted in humanity and equity.
The presenters will offer insights into the artists’ research and creative process. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore how art and scholarship intersect to envision a more just and liberated society.
